Hi guys! It's Tsubasa, and here we are at 2020 where the Olympics in Tokyo will be postponed to 2021 due to the corona virus outbreak across the world.
So I've been thinking recently if I should switch to the 5G network in Japan, if it is worth it or not.
I am currently using a MVNO called UQ Mobile on my Xperia XZ 3 to save cost, but frankly I've been limiting my phone's potential in regards to speed pretty much. So, I've been beginning to think if a switch to 5G is worth it or not in April 2020.
There are 3 main carriers in Japan and a MNO called Rakuten Mobile. The 3 main carriers are NTT docomo (Which made the Sigmarion 3 long time ago), au and Softbank.
I used to use Softbank a lot, my first 3G phone was a Softbank (vodafone) 902T. Then over the years I switched to au using HTC EVO WiMAX. I currently use UQ mobile, a cheap MVNO (but good quality).
If I were to go a lot to 5G enabled places like Tokyo, I think it is worth the money, but until May 6th, there is the national emargency in Japan, so yeah.
Well, I will be researching about 5G.... See you soon.
